Our hotel near Karlsruhe is a true family hotel – the Daneluzzi family has been running it for five generations, for over 200 years. Our Beginnings
The coat of arms at the entrance to the restaurant shows the year 1701, and the Kuntz family lineage in the parish records of Hayna can be traced back just as far. The first innkeeper of the family, who was also a farmer, was Georg Martin Kuntz in 1780. Two generations later, in 1908, his grandson Augustin Kuntz and his wife Katharina acquired the oldest inn in Hayna, which was taken over the same year by their first-born son, Emil Kuntz.
From Stagecoach Station to Wellness Hotel
The former horse-changing station “Zum Kreuz” eventually became the “Gasthaus Zur Krone.” Emil Kuntz ran the house – along with a large farm – for 52 years. Palatinate hospitality attracted travelers from near and far. In 1960, Karl Kuntz and his wife Erika took over the property. Together with their daughter Karin, her husband Robert, their son Karl-Emil, and his wife Martina, they expanded the Krone into a retreat that's well-known far beyond the region. In 2018, daughter Erika Kuntz and her husband Fabio Daneluzzi took over the renowned establishment and have since run it together with senior hostess Karin Schlindwein.
Meet Us
Karin Schlindwein: Senior hostess and heart of the Krone, she enchants guests with warmth and kindness and takes care of countless small and large details behind the scenes, from fresh flowers to fragrant linens. Always ready for a chat.
Erika Daneluzzi: Completed a dual study program at the Sparkasse, then earned a Master of Hospitality Management in Berlin before returning to the family business in 2018. Today, she is a passionate host, welcoming guests at reception and responsible for marketing and conceptual decisions at the hotel.
Fabio Daneluzzi: Trained as a chef under Karl-Emil Kuntz and furthered his experience after graduating in 2015 with mentors such as Sven Elverfeld and Norbert Niederkofler, among others. In 2018, he took over the hotel with Erika and today serves as host, executive chef, and a bundle of energy, always spreading good cheer.
