Short Overview

Take the KRONE (crown) express to Eschbach. Pick up some water at the village fountain and go up to the Madenburg. Take the Kramerpfad towards the Castle Trifels (guided tour) and return via the climbing hut at the Asselstein to Eschbach

Details

  • Departure 10:00 to Eschbach, depending on your fitness directly to the Madenburg or use the hotel bus to the hiking park site, from which you have a 20 minutes walk up to the Madenburg.

  • The Madenburg, a bishop's castle from the 10th century, is one of the most impressive fortresses of Palatinate. Short guided tour and short break.
  • It then goes on via a 6km flat path through the forest - the Kramerpfad - passing Rehberg, Annebos and Münzfelsen towards the Trifels-parking site.
  • „The who owns the Trifels, owns the Reich..." was the motto of the emperor's in the Staufer and Salian periods.
  • Repository of the Imperial Regalia (Replicate) and state prison
  • King Richard the lionheart was held prisoner here until a large ransom was paid. (This is explained in detail during the guided tour)
  • You return either to the climbing hut at Asselstein or you take the descent to Leinsweiler, Slevogthof and from there on to Eschbach where the hotel bus awaits you.
  • Return to Hayna
